UK Research and Development Roadmap. In this policy paper, the UK government pledges to “mandate open publication and strongly incentivise open data sharing where appropriate, so that reproducibility is enabled, and knowledge is shared and spread collaboratively.” 

Open Sharing During COVID-19: CRISPR-Based Detection Tools. A summary of the open sharing of plasmids for COVID-19 research, facilitated by Addgene. So far, more than 2,100 plasmids related to COVID research have been shared openly.

The Research Data Alliance has published its final version of the RDA COVID-19 Recommendations and Guidelines on Data Sharing.
  

PUBLISHING

MIT seeks to speed up pandemic research with AI-aided journal. The open access journal will assess preprints, peer review them, and may publish those reviewer reports, but won’t necessarily publish the research paper itself.

MPS has acquired High Wire Press for a total of $7.1 Million, representing a significant value depreciation .
  
  

RESEARCH

The WHO has released a list of 18 COVID-19 candidate vaccines in clinical evaluation. And as reported in STATnews, 178 vaccine candidates are in various stages of development.

C19 Rapid Review Founders Roundtable Discussion. July 8 at 8am PST. An online Q&A roundtable on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cross-publisher collaboration, the benefits of having key research reviewed and published as quickly possible, as well as plans for the future. University Panel: Post COVID-19 Procedures for Safely Returning to the Lab. July 15 at 9am PST. A 1-hour virtual panel that explores what re-opening labs after the coronavirus pandemic looks like. Organized by protocols.io, and hosted by Addgene’s Joanne Kamens.
